The King’s Bridge:
A Safer Journey to School
In Aloro Community, a shared act of generosity helped turn a fragile crossing into a pathway to possibility.
A BRIDGE TO POSSIBILITY
For a child on the way to school, the journey should begin with possibility.
In Aloro Community, Lagos, that journey included a crossing no family should have had to worry about: a weak, worn wooden bridge standing between children and their classrooms.
Discover the journey
01 / THE CROSSING BEFORE
An everyday journey.
An unnecessary worry.
When the Uncle Sele Foundation visited the community, we saw the condition of the bridge and understood what it meant for the people who depended on it. Uneven boards and fragile construction made an everyday journey a source of concern. For parents, sending a child to school came with an additional worry: getting them safely across.
The need was clear. The community needed a better crossing.

02 / BUILDING TOGETHER
Coming together
to make a difference.
In 2026, we reached out to friends and supporters with a shared purpose: to help build a stronger bridge for Aloro Community.
Their generosity helped turn that purpose into action.
As construction progressed, new supports and wooden decking began to reshape the crossing. The photographs capture the work behind that transformation: people giving their time and effort to build something their community could use every day.
Together, we built The King’s Bridge.

03 / A NEW WAY FORWARD
A crossing that
carries possibility.
Today, the new bridge offers children a safer route towards school and gives residents a better way to move through their community.
Its significance reaches into ordinary moments: a parent seeing their child off in the morning, a neighbour crossing to visit another household, a pupil making the journey to class.
These everyday journeys are why this project matters.
Access to education begins before a child enters the classroom. It begins with being able to get there.

The worn, uneven crossing gives way to a new wooden walkway with handrails, built with the support of friends of the foundation.
04 / A SHARED ACHIEVEMENT
Built through
generosity.
The King’s Bridge stands as an expression of compassion made practical. Friends and supporters recognised a need and helped us respond.
To everyone who contributed: thank you. You helped make this crossing possible, and your kindness is now part of the daily life of Aloro Community.
Together, we built a safer path to a brighter future.
